"Our top load washer bit the dust and I had been considering a front load washer so I purchased this model because of the features and 10 yr motor warranty. I am amazed at the huge load of towels this machine is capable of washing and is very quiet except when filling with water. The wash times are average but with the very first load we noticed that stains that normally had to previously be pre-treated came clean without doing anything with this machine. My wife loves how clean and fresh they come out and it uses so little detergent it's hard to believe they could come out so clean. Water and electricity savings are to be expected as the machine spins the laundry so much drier than any other machine we've owned in the past. I wish I had bought one sooner!! We also bought the matching dryer along with the pedestals and couldn't be happier with our purchase. Our old clothes seem to be renewed with these machines."

The day i got this i was so excited! i set it up in the back yard and waited 3 days for the water to heat up. then i noticed that it was loosing air slowly. my husband mentioned that it might be from the difference in air temperature so i ignored it. there is no way i could have ripped a hole! now a month later it barely stays inflated for a whole day! and i cannot find a hole anywhere.also the heater doesnt work so well at all anymore it just makes the water warm... not hot. im really angry about this because it was very expensive and i feel like i wasted my money.

GenTran 301060 PowerStay 30 Amp Manual Transfer Switch Review

GenTran 301060 PowerStay 30 Amp Manual Transfer Switch
Average Reviews:

I installed this Manual Transfer Switch to power my homes critical circuits the correct way without risk of electrocuting the power company repair man. I like the way this unit is designed, it comes prewired with with the plenty of instructions that make sense if you take a little time to think them through. If you can't figure the instructions out, call a pro. Anyway, the switch has two load meters that are very helpful once you are powering your house through the transfer switch panel from your generator. The meters tell you how close you are to your generators limits. I found the installation straightforward and logical. I'm happy with the purchase. This can be a DIY if you understand what is going on in the circuit breaker panel, load/wire gauge code requirements, etc..

Quakehold 4508 Big Screen and Appliance Strap Review

Quakehold 4508 Big Screen and Appliance Strap

Purchased these along w/ steel furniture cables to toddler-proof our home. We used these to secure a 32" old style TV and stand to the wall. The TV is so heavy we did not choose to secure it to the stand. We strapped each side of the TV and stand to different studs in the wall. Straps blend and become invisible if you take a little time to plan it out. Very heavy duty and safe. Quakehold products are worth every penny when safety is your goal.

Watts Up? .net Internet Enabled Power Usage Monitor Review

Watts Up .net Internet Enabled Power Usage Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an interesting device with potential, but out-of-the-box it has some serious limitations you should know about.
The device has two data interfaces, mini-USB and Ethernet. All configuration of the device must be done via USB from a Windows computer (there is also a freeware Linux utility, and the protocol is documented as well). The Ethernet port appears to not accept incoming connections of any kind, it only makes outgoing connections at intervals to report its status.
The reason I bought the device was its ability to turn the output socket off and on by remote control over the network. I have a flaky system that periodically needs to be hard power-cycled, and this looked like a reasonably inexpensive way to get that capability.
The way the "net" feature of the device works is as follows: You configure a hostname and path to a POST script and an update interval. Each interval, it will connect to the web site configured and submit a POST request with its current status. The web server can then, if it chooses to, respond with "[1]" to turn the power off or "[0]" to turn it back on. So if you're willing to write your own custom server application to log and control the device you should (theoretically) be able to do whatever you want.
By default the device posts its data to the manufacturer's web site and you can create a free account there to view the logged data and (in theory anyway) also control the power output on the device.
There are a few problems with this. The "free" web account only accepts updates from the device every 15 minutes, and it will reconfigure the device back to 15m if you try to set it up faster.
Because the power control is done as a response to a data post, a power cycle operation will take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. You have to ask it to turn the power off, then wait for the next poll interval, then ask for the power to be turned back on, then wait 15 minutes for that to happen.
If you wanted to have a 1 minute polling interval (reducing the time to power cycle from 30m to 2m or less) then you would have to pay $25 per month(!) for this.
Also, so far the web-based power-control feature DOES NOT EVEN WORK! You ask it to turn the power off, wait as long as 15 minutes, and then it simply reports that the power is still on. The posted energy usage data comes through fine, but either the server is not sending the power off response or the device is not getting it, or is ignoring it.
So, assuming (I haven't tried it yet) that writing your own server code will actually work, then this a pretty useful device I think. But if you're expecting to use it to monitor and control your device via the web, these features are fairly limited and the power control just does not work (at least so far for me).
Otherwise the features are similar to any of the other (lesser) Watts Up models.

Norpro Tin Heat Diffuser Review

Norpro Tin Heat Diffuser
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Maybe it's just me... but the stinky, smoking handle problem wasn't an issue with me at all. When the diffuser arrived I unwrapped it and, with a gentle tug, pulled off the wooden handle! It's not like I'm going to be moving it around while I'm cooking on it. The handle would just get in my way on the stovetop, anyway. Without the handle, it stores much easier, too.
These little tin diffusers aren't designed to be used with a burner that's turned all the way up to "high". You'll need a cast iron or solid aluminum one for that kind of heat. If you're just trying to reduce hot spots or using it with a ceramic Moroccan tagine, it's perfect.

If you're cooking a delicate sauce, or melting chocolate, it's imperitave to use really low, gentle heat. This diffuser adds a layer of protection between the burner and the bottom of the pan, yet its perforations do allow heat to get through.
