(More customer reviews)I purchase this product from DIYcontrols a few weeks ago. The product comes with an on line installation guide and video for the product that are very helpful. When I had additional questions that the plumber needed to know prior to installation, DIYcontrols responded rapidly. For my particular water heater the copper pipes are soldered together and attach to the heater, which meant that I needed to buy a union, as well as male and female ends that could be connected to the devise and soldered to the existing pipe.
The first device arrived defective and the valve would not close; unfortunately, I already had a plumber at the house to install the device and DIYcontrols does not have effective weekend support, so I had the plumber leave. The following Monday Scott Walker from ONSITE PRO, the manufactor of the device, called me to find out what happened and was very appologetic and said that he would send me out a new one ASAP, which he did.
The new device worked exactly as advertised and the plumber was able to install it in a little over an hour without any difficulty.
I would rate the custer service at ONSITE Pro and integrity of their workers as outstanding.
In regard to the device, I recommend to plug it in prior to having a plumber come by the ensure it is functioning correctly; however, from most of the other reviews from other sites the valve sticking does not appear to be a normal issue so it shouldn't be a worry. If you are afraid of the valve sticking, either in the open or closed position due to the motor malfunction, there is a manual override so that the valve can be opened.
My plumber was impressed at the quality of the product and I think that having it is a great idea to prevent costly water damage.

(More customer reviews)We purchased the GWT501A (very similar) late last fall and used it a few times, then we brought it out again once our Maryland evenings turned cooler. It has met our expectations in every respect. Assembly is never as easy as I like, but it was not too bad. We use our heater on our patio at dinner time and while enjoying a glass or two of wine afterwards. There are just two of us, and we sit at two pub height tables that are about 2 foot square. The heater easily secures to one of the tables using the hole for the umbrella; some reviews I read complained that similar heaters blew over in heavy winds, but when secured to the table there has been no such problem.
Our heater came with a fuel line that allows it to be attached directly to a propane tank which I think is a must as regularly using the individual cylinders would be expensive...when used regularly the tank needs refilling about once a week. Importantly the heater puts out a lot of heat for two people sitting at a small table; in the early fall the low setting has been more than adequate.
We considered the full sized models, but had we gone this route we would have had the problem of moving and storing the heater. The table top heater can be easily moved and stored for the summer.
All in all, this is exactly what we wanted: it is easy to use and it produces ample heat that allows us to enjoy the cooler fall evenings.

(More customer reviews)The Hose worked great in cold weather, but it dried & cracked in less than 6 months from exposure to the sunny weather. The ice didn't get it but the sun did. I was hoping to leave it in use year round and only unplug the heater during the warmer months. Now it makes a good sprinkler hose. For the price I was expecting it to last at least 3-4 winters.

This one is now disintegrating and white material in now in the hot water. Zero customer service from the mfgr. Thanks to Mr Vaughn's review I will search for a replacement from another manufacturer. I have a 50 gallon water heater that has started making a horrendous noise that resonates through the house immediately when the hot water is turned on. The warranty is 6 year parts no labor from Rheem. I have no problem with that. I called the plumbing company that originally installed it. They checked it out and could not determine the source of the problem. I called Rheem. The gentleman told me exactly what should have been checked and told me it could be only one of two things. I called my servicer. The company owner contacted Rheem to confirm what I was told. Another visit from repairman. He did everything Rheem told me and the company owner to do, to no avail. It is not sediment. It is inside the tank and the noise originates from the exact same place on the left side every time. I called Rheem back and told them it was still a problem and requested a new tank. I was told they would not replace it because I couldn't prove what was wrong to warrant the replacement. She now gave me another item that should be checked. She also told me to call my gas company and have the gas checked, except the burner doesn't even kick on and the noise is happening. This is the third service call, and mind you, they don't cover any labor. I think I have been more than patient and they, who manufactured the item, can't tell me what is wrong, but they expect me to tell them what is wrong for them to replace it. The woman basically tried to brush me off. She told me there is no reason it should be making that noise. I think I already knew that. I would never buy a Rheem again. I agree that I had a responsibility to try to have it repaired first, but I think I have more than fulfilled my part of the deal. I can't say all Rheem products are a problem, but their customer service is horrible if you do have a problem.

Waste King AH-780-UL Quick and Hot Instant Hot Water Tank Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased one of these units approx. 4 months ago. At first all was working fine, then a couple days ago I noticed a leak under the sink. I quickly traced the problem to the Quick and Hot tank. I removed the tank and opened up the housing thinking that it may be a loose fitting or something simple. What I found was that two of the three studs that hold the heating element to the tank were completely broken off and laying on the bottom of the tank housing. Since the element was no longer pulled tight to the gasket through the tank, water was leaking around it. I contacted Waste King and was told that since I did not pruchase the unit from an AUTHORIZED dealer they would not cover the warranty. This was obviously poor workmanship and I even offered to purchase a new element, but was told that they do not sell parts and would not offer any other assistance. Sorry you are just out $160. Thanks Waste King. I'll be purchasing a new one from a different manufacturer. I would urge others to do the same.
