(More customer reviews)Yes it works ... sort of. Installation was easy using stainless braid flex lines and since it went under the kitchen sink where power was already available no wiring was needed, otherwise it would have been a major hassle. It seems well made and runs quietly.
The problem is that the hot water line under the house cools faster than the line under the sink where the pump & thermostat are located. The upshot is that instead of instant hot water, you get nearly instant warm water. It does help and the hot water warms faster than without it but if you're looking for fully hot water in a matter of seconds, you'll be dissapointed. It's an improvement but not the total solution I was hoping for.
Probably insulating the hot water line where possible in the crawl space would help. Guess I'll try that next.

(More customer reviews)We just had our 3rd unit fail. First one failed after 1-1/2 years in use, second one failed after 8-1/2 months use, 3rd one just failed after 8-1/2 months use. Although the company has been absolutely great about replacing these units @ no charge, we're getting frustrated removing and re-installing units and find the inconvenience of the down time quite annoying. Some interior electrical components overheat and begin melting insulation fortunately tripping the main breaker before further damage results.
Unit is installed per specifications with company supplied approved faucet and receives filtered water. We are not going to install another despite the fact #3 is still under warranty.

Now there is warm water instantly and hot water is just seconds behind. It has been extremely nice this winter, avoiding freezing water from the tap.
Cheaper recirculating pumps utilize a a plastic valve under the sink that will wear out and need replacement. The body of the valve in this pump is brass and looks like it will last for a very long time.

(More customer reviews)We bought one of these hot water dispensers in Novemeber '09 after having owned Insinkerator brands in the last 2 homes in which we have lived. We selected this product based on the style and selection of stainless steel finish.
Recently, our Quick and Hot has begun emitting only a tiny trickle of water which takes forever to fill a cup. Not only that, but the water is dispensed in such a way that it comes out of the tap in a very erratic fashion, sometimes out of the center, but just as often, out of either side of the tap, so that it sputters and splashes the hot water onto your hand as you hold the cup. We looked in the instruction manual provided by the company and they suggest removing the filter to soak it in vinegar, then use a brush to remove any debris. This accomplished nothing. As the product has a one year replacement warranty, we thought we could contact the company for a possible replacement. Read the warranty carefully. It does not cover the following problems, which are taken from the instruction manual:
1. Water is not hot (really? isn't this a HOT water dispenser?)
2. Hot water drips of sputters from faucet (be sure to wear protective gear while using the dispenser)
3. Water does not flow right away or at all (really? are you just supposed to imagine how nice it would be to have the water come out into your cup?)
I would never buy another product made by this company.

(More customer reviews)My plumber installed a Grundfos comfort system ( pipe and valve) for a guest bath, meaning I had hoped to use the timer on the pump and not have the pump on 24hours a day 7 days a week, but rather on only when I had guests and other wise the pump would be would be off. Turns out my situation is not a good fit for this system's characteristics. Using it the way I hoped to I have ALOT of hot water in the cold supply when the pump is off. When the warm supply is cool to cold the Comfort Valve is Wide open (ie a gallon or so a minute flow) and puts way too much hot water in the cold water supply, for the faucet where it is installed and critically other nearby faucets, which suffer from back flow as well . So now rather than wait for the hot water supply to deliver warm water .We have to wait for the cold water supply to supply cold on nearby faucets. The product reference material from GRUNDFOS doesn't point this out, if it had I would have done something different. My Plumber and I both spoke to Grunfos tech support on this one. THUMBS DOWN to Grundfos for not identifying situations where this system is not a fit.

We used the hot water for everything from tea, to getting grease off dishes, to getting candle wax off candle holders. I would have given a 5-star rating, but last night the unit decided to fry. Literally. The smell of burning electronics and smoke came out from under our sink, and after the killing the breakers last night and thinking we had a bad outlet, we found out this morning that it was this instant hot water heater. Oddly enough, it was still working when we were troubleshooting this morning and found out that it definitely was the culprit. I'm glad we were home to smell the smoke! I'll contact the manufacturer to see if this is a known problem or if we just got unlucky.

(More customer reviews)Installed this pump in three steps. First, installed a 115-volt outlet under the sink that was farthest from the water heater, a distance of about 50 feet. There were three other sinks and two showers all hooked to the hot water pipe that ran between this farthest sink and the water heater. Second, I insulated the hot water pipes leading from the water heater to this farthest sink. Most of these hot water pipes were located in a suspended ceiling. If the pipes were in a wall, I ignored trying to insulate them, figuring the wall was enough insulation. Third, I installed the pump under the sink. I set the timer to operate whenever I plan on using hot water in any of the sinks (i.e., 0600-2400). I have had the pump installed for about a year and appreciate it every day. When the water at the sink cools to 85 degrees, the pump cycles "on." When the water temperature reaches 95 degrees at the sink, the pump cycles "off." The water from the hot water side gets pumped to the cold water side so that the cold water is about 90 degrees, but that water cools rapidly. When the cold water faucet is turned "on," the cooler water quickly gets to the faucet. This pump is perfect for my needs.

(More customer reviews)When this item is combined with the tank and filter it is a very pricey item. The filter only filters out chlorine so is not needed if you don't have chlorine in your water. Perhaps a good plumber could plumb the filter out of the system. Also, the filters are expensive...$76+ for a two pack and you have to order them in most cases. I am having a problem with mine after two years...it's starting to not dispense water for up to 30 seconds after not being used for a few days. InSinkErator customer service has not as yet come up with a reason for this that fits my situation. Scheduling a warranty service through them is a hassle...they keep telling me what they think the problem is and I keep saying no it isn't, please schedule and that has yet to happen from there end. But I do love the unit when it works correctly.
The problem has been solved. It's the cheap plastic tank. The tank failed and leaked water which degraded the plastic and other parts. The water reacted with the plastic and was responsible for the taste, smell, etc. I have now disconnected two of them and will not replace them. Be aware that InSinkerator knows exactly what the problem is even though they deny it. The problems started wen they switched to the plastic tanks. Now they have a 'new' tank...stainless steel. I am sure there will be no problems with that but it's very expensive. I won't have another of their products based on their customer service and misleading.

(More customer reviews)I manage a few single-family properties and used Insinkerators on some of the units since the early 1980s. The early units had stainless tanks and will last anywhere from 5 to 8 years - pretty good. The later units went cheap, using plastic tanks and usually crack within 2 years - not that good. This unit in review has the SST tank, suppose to be stainless steal tank again for reliability. However I found it only lasted under 2 years, failing to dispense any hot or even warm water. The units I use within the last 10 years only lasted around 2 years on average. Many times it turn out to be a blown fuse, a few times between a bad tank or worn out on mechanical dispensing faucet parts. To save the fuse, don't turn up the temperature on the tank to maximum. I throw in a budget to replace it every 3 years, as it's not cost effective to call in service after the warranty period. Reliability experience on my own home use is about 2 years as well. I don't have enough hot dispensing units installed to have it statistically reliable, this is just my own experience.
Very nice when it works, could have been more reliable.

As for hot water temperatures, very comparable. I would say its not scalding hot out of the tap, but steamy. Not bad, given its winter in New England. Electric units are out of the question, the power requirements needed to raise the water temperature put them beyond the capacity of most homes in this climate. Our consumption is moderate, just two in the household. Can two use the hot water at the same time? Yes, the hot water pressure will again be reduced, but not uncomfortable for the one in the shower. One important note, the household uses half-inch plumbing, while the city water feed comes in on a three-quarters-inch pipe; larger pipe capacity could be a factor to consider. Electrical savings are modest, though we only have one month to compare.

(More customer reviews)If you listen to InSinkErator you will end up purchasing a new unit if not under warranty. The unit is easily fixed see below my instructions. I did pass this on to thier Customer Service hopefully they will review it and publish the instructions for everyone. It takes no parts just minor disassembling and cleaning.
You can easily repair the faucet handle sticking problem from the top.
1.) turn off water - actually you could leave on
2.) using a 3/4 inch open end wrench to remove small retaining cap holding handles in faucet. If you look close you will notice flat sections on cap. Be carefull not to mar finish.
3.) Then pop off handle pivot cap with a small flat screwdriver exposing the stuck plunger. There is hex cap that hold plunger assembly in but you would need a very thin wall socket to remove entire plunger assembly.
4.) Clean as much green goo from plunger area with paper towels and a tooth-pic.
5.) Fill with WD40 cover entire plunger leave soaking over night. (don't use solvents!)
6.) This should loosen remaing debris. Also work plunger up and down, a 1/4 inch extension works good for this.
7. ) reassemble and you should be as good as new.
In-Sink-Erator only wants to sell a new faucet they don't offer and rebuild kit even though the faucet can be repair from top without removing from sink. My faucet works like new after I was done I added vasoline over plunger area hopefully to keep debris out.

(More customer reviews)The H770 is a small water heater with a dedicated faucet delivering 190F water. Seems like a simple idea that doesn't take rocket science to design. I have had 2 of these units, the first lasted 5 years, the next 4 years and they fail the same way, the tank leaks and creates a mess. Now, I'm looking at a 3rd unit after 9 years of using these products. I have whole home water heaters cost 2x this heater, require $100 professional installation, but lasts over 4-5x longer. Newer models are not drop in replacements either, as there are minute valve position changes, meaning another $100 professional labor cost if I didn't do it myself. Per instructions, it takes about 1 hour for a professional to install, and that includes working is a tight space underneath a kitchen sink. Now, the maker claims that the H770, like any water heater, wears out with time, and that's a given. However, instant hot water is less a necessity than a whole home water heater. Its easier to use an electric thermo pot, is far cheaper and easily serviced or replaced by a consumer and they last for decades. Lastly, a thermo pot can be filled with better filtered or bottle water rather than relying on pure tap water, as the H770 does [there is a filtered water version, but its otherwise a similar apparatus.] If you are aware this product lasts to 5 years and are willing to endure the replacement labor and cost, by all means, otherwise this product cannot be recommended.

The unit works very well, operates with zero noise and has not given me any problems to date. I have installed $400 units sold at Home Depot and I would never pay 3 times as much for those units compared to the Quick and Hot. The faucet is sturdy, of a high quality and does not look out of place in high priced kitchen. Great buy at less then $150.
Pros: Faucet is well constructed, multiple finishes available, adjustable temperature dial, 1 year warranty, price
Cons: Water drains back into the unit after use resulting in a 1-2 second delay at each use, the connections are all 1/4" copper tube pressure fittings (will leak if not sealed correctly), saddle tap valve is not included.
