(More customer reviews)Be thankful it's not available, and don't get something similar either. I'm glad to see nobody else has bought one of these for their kitchen. I found lots of problems with mine:
1. There's a 3 second delay, causing a huge cold water sandwich, i.e., if you shut it off, or adjust it and it drops below the minimum flow, you'll get a huge wave of cold water for about six seconds, 3 for the delay, 3 more to warm up.
2. No more warm water trickle. In order to get half warm, half cold, you need to adjust the flow to 1.4 gallons/minute, hardly a small flow. The heater will not turn on unless 0.7 gpm flows in the hot water side.
3. Adjustment of temperature is a major job -- you need to shut off the dedicated breaker, remove the plate, and guess at where you want the setting, put the cover back on, restore the breaker. Then repeat the process until the temperature is correct.
4. It requires a dedicated 220 V 40 amp (for my model) line, an expensive item to install. And flourescent lights will flicker just a bit when the heater is on.
We like to wash small cups, silver, or a single dish or two by turning on a small warm or hot flow and rinsing, soaping, and rinsing in one stage, using a small amount of water. Then if we find another dish, it's nice to find the water is still warm. We can turn off and not waste the water between small washings. We've developed this habit due to the occasional water rationing we get here in CA.
Not so with the Eemax... Once you shut it off, you won't see hot water again for about 6 seconds. That's a lot of water down the drain. In general, this system is a huge water waster.
We find ourselves either scalding our hands, or washing in cold water. We paid for a new dedicated 220v line and breaker, and installation, which took a couple of days and cost a couple of grand. It was a collosal waste to buy this for a kitchen. I wouldn't want it in my bathroom either, no more running trickles of water for shaving, and either scalded hands or cold water washes.
The only good thing it does is provide the dish washer with very hot water. It works fine there, and I suppose I'll leave it there. But I'll have to add a small tank now for the hot water tap.
I suppose if you like to fill a sink with hot water for the wash, and again for the rinse, it might work for you. If that's always the way you work.
Save your money. Use a small tank for kitchen or bathroom, use the 110 volt existing line, and forget Eemax and equivalents!

(More customer reviews)I have had my washer and dryer set for only a month and although I know that isn't very long to test out an appliance that should work well for years to come I've already run into some issues. This is my first washer and dryer purchase and I have only used top loaders before so let me say this is all a new experience for me. I did my research and knew there was issues with all front loading washer with mildew so to make sure the door was left open and the detergent drawer out when not in use. Well knowing that, I always do when I am not continuously using it. The detergent drawer is always wet and often has a puddle of water- in which I have to remove the whole thing and go into my kitchen to empty the water out. There is always a little bit of water in the gray seal which now I keep a towel close by to stick in there and mop it up. I have not seen any different in my clothes getting cleaner and in fact am a little frustrated since I can't clean my clothes quite the same way I did with the top loaders. The one time I did use bleach, I must say was easier than with a top loader and far better results. I was skeptical and let's say even scared since I couldn't manually mix the bleach in with the soapy water but there is a little line that tells you how much bleach you should use (which was less than I normally do# and my the clothes with some slight coloring did not discolor and all the white was whiter. I was so happy with that, I just wish I could do bleach in all my loads. I don't really notice a difference in noise or energy savings since I often have to do an extra rinse cycle #esp with sheets, blankets, towels) to get enough water out to put it in the dryer. Also in the seal where the water gets built up- so do socks especially little childrens socks and they are just soaking wet in this puddle of water- it's absolutely disgusting to fish out. Blah.

(More customer reviews)A few things: I purchased this from Amazon.com because of their return policy, and my local Kohler dealer did not accept returns on this item. I really needed to give this a test run before knowing if it would work for me. You do need a GFI installed behind the toilet to use this product.
Why did I buy this? I have a thing about germs. And so I wanted to be cleaner and I was hoping that this product could possibly eliminate the need to use ones hands to be clean (that turns out not to be possible).
I was first very disappointed with this product because my expectations were very high. Although it is elongated, much of the seat is taken up by the tank which means that if you are used to an elongated seat this will feel very small.
Second, I had a heck of a time getting clean with this. It seemed as if the water was hitting actually near my tail bone and nowhere near where it needed to hit in order to work. As a male, I was squished in the front of the seat, especially feeling as if I needed to sit farther forward in order to get the water action to work in the right spot. Through trial and error I resorted to some acrobatics that would be too hard to describe here in a tasteful way. Ultimately I found that with the wand in the farthest out position and leaning forward on the seat as if you are skiing down hill it hits in the right spot for me.
Third, the drier will not get you dry unless you sit there for hours. It may help to minimize dripping when you stand to dry yourself with toilet paper however. Which brings up another point. If you typically reach behind while sitting to clean with toilet paper you will most likely have to stand with this toilet. There is simply not enough room to reach your hand behind yourself as your posterior will likely occupy the entire seat. The dripping can be gross so be sure to have toilet paper ready to wipe off your leg.
Fourth, as my title suggests, this toilet does not work miracles. Depending on the level of soiling, you may need to use the jets, then toilet paper, then the jets again, and toilet paper again to check and maybe even the jets again. It really depends on what has passed.
Having said all that, you WILL get cleaner than if you didn't have the jets at your disposal. On the whole, this product is worthwhile to me, but this product could definitely be better.
It could be improved by making the seat higher off the toilet to allow the jets to be farther away from you and thus have better aim and not become diffused. It could allow for the wands to extend further and shoot more straight up rather than toward the front of the bowl. And they really need a way to make this a truly extended seat with more room.
This product is the right idea, the right direction, and it does help, and I did decide to keep it, but it could be better.

(More customer reviews)I have installed Sears units and other In-Sink-Erator units and I will not install this model again. It has a very poor connection between the hot water unit and the dispenser. The nylon nut that secures the 1/4 copper tube to the hot water unit does not work. Or should I say it does not work when you are lying on your back under a sink with limited mobility! I called 1-800-558-5700 and asked them what to do and they said to keep tightening it until it stops leaking. The directions however say tighten it finger tight and then turn it with a wrench no more than 3 turns or it may crack the unit. And by the looks of the water jacket it will crack.
This is a new design the older models sealed this connection. I guess in the efforts to save 12 cents on a brass fitting quality has gone out the window.

(More customer reviews)I bought this brand of heater for my above ground pool last year. I immediately started having problems. The unit started leaking before I had the gas installed! Then, the Hayward company made accusations that the alkalinity in my pool water may have caused the problem. There was no problems with my chemically balanced pool water! I could see it was a factory defect in the solder of the copper tubing. Anyway, I replaced the heat exchanger, and it seemed OK. Now, just a few months later... the heater will not work! The unit will not ignite and it is wasting gas! I attempted to resolve the situation by contacting the pool store, in which they informed me to contact a Hayward representative. After several attempts, I was unable to contact someone/anyone at Hayward. I tried to get some information from the Hayward web site... completely useless. Then trying to find someone to service this particular unit... they complained about this model H100ID1. They said they have had numerous problems with this particular heater. It is absolute junk! No help from Hayward, No help from servicers, No help from sellers,... you are on your own! Stranded with a useless pool heater. Buyer beware!

My tank is 28 years old now, and still no leaks. I did have to replace the thermocouple about 12 years ago, and the pressure relief valve about 2 years ago, they have nothing to do with the anode rod, and the tank probably would have rusted out before these quit if I hadn't replaced the anode rod. Sure beats replacing the tank! I think I have saved a lot of money this way. Even if I only had to replace the tank every ten years, it still would have cost much more.

(More customer reviews)I have had one of these de-icing cables on the front of my house for a few years and it worked great so I decided to add a few more around the house. I have never had a problem with ice dams but this seems like a pretty cheap precaution especially up here in NH.
They provide you with plenty of clips to attached to the shingles and the process is very easy and is a DIY project if you don't mind being on a ladder. It only took me about 30 min. to install the cable.

Just make sure you buy the correct length cable, the way to figure that is through some pre-planning. Take a look at the area you are planning to install the cable and take some measurements. You should have approx 2 foot loops about 16" apart, so if you have a 30 length of roof you want to cover your already at 60 ft., you also need to figure in extra cable for a double run in the gutter (if you have one) so if you add the 30 ft. gutter x 2 that's another 60 ft.
Then add the downspout, let's just say that another 15 ft. x 2 (need a double run for best results) that's another 30ft. So in total you would need a 150 ft. cable for a 30ft. length of roof with a gutter and a downspout.

I have done several test on the controller at room temp. 72'F Yellow charging light is on until battery voltage hits 14.35 volts, then the green fully charged light comes on and the battery stops charging until the battery reaches 13.25 volts then it starts charging again. AMP loss going through controller is only .02 amp's and that makes this a great controller. It has a connector for 12 volt load that shuts off at 11 volts and turns back on at 12 volts, I don't use the load connector, I have a power invertor hooked directly to the battery that shuts off at 11 volts although I never let the battery get that low because it's hard on the battery when you have 4-5 cloudy days in a row. Even deep cycle batteries will go bad if they sit around discharged. I bought the Allstar ALL76232 universal 2 wire connector to hook up the controller too the battery and a 50 watt solar panel.

Wall mount bed/bath 1500W heater Review

(More customer reviews)If you set this heater on high it will give you way too much heat for one bathroom, unless it is a bigger than average bathroom. I initially used it in my bedroom, but again, too much heat, so I now use it on the stair landing, which is open to below and it still manages to warm-up the space without the heat concentrating too much -I don't like warm spaces, I'm just looking the tone-down the cold, and this does the job very nicely... but I've gotten the same results from heaters a lot less expensive than this.
Two things to consider: it is NOT "quiet operation". The fan is actually pretty noisy I can hear it all the way down to the kitchen, when it's on I put on music to drown the fan sound.
Secondly, unless you screw it onto the wall, it will come off just by the fan vibration, and forget trying to use a hairdryer or any other appliance using the extra outlet, the hardware to hold it in place is just too flimsy. Since I don't want it as a permanent fixture, I found my own way to hold it in place (using an outlet cover -this actually works better the hardware provided) but I still put my left hand on it when I turn it on or off to keep it from jumping off the wall.

(More customer reviews)In theory, liquid-filled heaters are better than other styles, and the Delonghi oil-filled electric radiator space heater I purchased 7 or 8 years ago performed incredibly well under constant and intense use until recently, when the oil started leaking a tiny bit from various hairline cracks in the metal. I purchased a new model Delonghi which, much to my consternation, was a piece of junk unlike its stalwart predecessor, and so I tried this QMARK/Fahrenheat PHH15002. This unit generates _no_ discernible heat on the 'low' setting (truly - you can actually touch the element itself and feel that it is barely lukewarm), and very little on 'high'. People are fond of saying 'watts are watts' and therefore any heaters with equivalent draw are "the same" but clearly there's more to it than that: my old Delonghi at 1500 watts got very hot to the touch and warmed a 200 sf room with no problem, whereas the also 1500 watt PHH15002 barely scores as tepid, and could not heat a closet if its sorry little metal life depended on it.

Honeywell HE360A Whole House Powered Humidifier Review

(More customer reviews)I installed the HE360A onto a new Ruud 95%+ high-efficiency dual-stage heating and cooling system and I'm controlling the unit with a Ritetemp 6080 thermostat. The humidifier works beautifully, and based upon my research with heating and cooling specialists, this unit is optimally-designed to conserve power and to protect the heating and cooling system. Bypass units (that use a piece of ducting connecting the return and supply sides of the system) rob the heating system's efficiency and will push moist air through the system. Installing this unit on the supply side of the ductwork ensures that all of the humidified air will be moved into the home, not back into the system. While this design does use more water than some other units, the savings in power and the increased efficiency of the unit will minimize its financial impact. By the way, I attached the unit to a hot water supply, not cold, as this helps the moisture to be absorbed into the heated air.
The newer Honeywell humidifiers create steam to humidify the air. While this is probably optimal for humidification purposes and should minimize the amount of water used, the amount of electricity these systems use to create the steam will definitely impact your pocketbook. From a "green" perspective, I find that water is a cheaper and more renewable resource than electrical power. The old-fashioned drum humidifier units will save water, but use a holding tray of water to soak a pad that the air travels through. If not cleaned thoroughly and often, they develop mold and mildew and that will get circulated through your house... a very dangerous and unhealthy option.
Installing this unit did prove a bit of a challenge because of it's combination with the Ritetemp 6080 electronic thermostat, which includes a humidistat. Most online "experts" say that the HE360 units won't work with this kind of thermostat/humidistat because of incompatible electrical design of the two systems. However, I'm a firm believer that anything is possible with enough research and who doesn't like a challenge? To make this work, I purchased a small 24VAC SPDT relay from Grainger, part number 4A708 (about $15) and did NOT use the installation kit recommended for the humidifier or the humidistat that was provided with the unit. Since my air handler provides 24VAC to the thermostat and the thermostat interally provides settings to determine when the humidifier will run, I used the relay to control power to the 120VAC side of the system which acts as a switch to turn the entire humidifier on and off. To accomplish this, I installed a new electrical circuit and outlet to be used solely by the humidifer. I installed the relay inside an electrical box to control the power to this outlet. Using low voltage wiring I connected the relay to the "C"ommon contact on the air handler and to the "H"umidifier wire from the thermostat. I then used a wire nut to connect the two yellow wires on the HE360, which basically sets the unit "on" any time it has power. When the air handler is running in heat mode and the thermostat determines that humidification is required, the relay is powered and provides 120VAC power to the outlet and the humidifier is turned on. When the relay loses power, the 120VAC is turned off that the HE360 shuts off. The thermostat can be set to work two ways: to run the humidifier and the air handler's blower anytime when the humidistat says that humidity is required, or to run the humidifier only when the air handler is in heat mode and the blower is running and humidity is required. I could have directly wired this unit to the air handler's power, but I chose to use the outlet so that I could unplug the unit in an emergency or for service.
I strongly recommend this unit... I've tried several of whole house units over the last 20 years and this is the first that really works. I've already helped others to install these units on their HVAC systems and all of them work great, none have had any problems and all are amazed at the difference the humidifier makes in their homes.

We used the hot water for everything from tea, to getting grease off dishes, to getting candle wax off candle holders. I would have given a 5-star rating, but last night the unit decided to fry. Literally. The smell of burning electronics and smoke came out from under our sink, and after the killing the breakers last night and thinking we had a bad outlet, we found out this morning that it was this instant hot water heater. Oddly enough, it was still working when we were troubleshooting this morning and found out that it definitely was the culprit. I'm glad we were home to smell the smoke! I'll contact the manufacturer to see if this is a known problem or if we just got unlucky.
