Although heavy and probably larger than a window air conditioner, this unit is worth every penny. I have a home office with a server and a couple PCs in it and this unit keeps the room as cold as I want it! I have central air - but my office always seemed stuffy. Now the entire upstairs loft is as cool and comfortable as the rest of the house. The unit vents outside - and even with my sliding windows, the venting area is narrow and does not obstruct my view. It can also be vented directly through the wall, but that seemed a little extreme to me. It is probably as loud as a window unit and has a fan only mode and a de-humidifier mode. The temperature is set by degrees, not some dumb low-medium-high setting. It plugs into a normal household plug and could be moved to another area of the house with little trouble. I am thinking, if the power went out, this unit could be used with the generator, we would not cook like the last time we lost power in the summer.

With a cooling capacity of 12,000 BTUs, this portable air conditioner means any room of the house can stay comfortably cool in the summer months. The unit's durable indoor/outdoor castor wheels and built-in side carry handles make it simple to transport from the living room during the day to the bedroom at night, while its easy-to-use electronic controls and LCD display ensure effortless operation. Choose from an automatic fan function or three fan speeds, depending on the personal comfort level desired. It also provides a dehumidifying mode to help reduce excess moisture in the air and a fan-only mode for air circulation without cooling. Other highlights include quiet operation thanks to its high-efficiency compressor and components, an adjustable thermostat with a 24-hour programmable timer for energy savings, air filtration to promote cleaner indoor air, and dripless operation, which means no bucket to empty. A full-function LCD remote control comes included, as well as a window bracket and exhaust hose for easy installation with no tools required. The portable air conditioner measures approximately 18-1/5 by 14-3/5 by 30-2/5 inches.

3M AA00DC-6 Advanced Allergen Furnace Filter Review

3M AA00DC-6 Advanced Allergen Furnace Filter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My house uses forced air for heating. The disadvantage of such a system is that it distributes the dust in the air everywhere in the house. However, it is supposed to be possible to filter out the dust. Over the years, I have steadily increased the quality of the filter that I use for my forced air heating system. However, until now I have not noticed any obvious difference in my allergic reactions that seem to start with the heating season.
There are two cats in my house. I have read that cat dander, tiny flakes of cat skin shed by the cats, is five times smaller than household dust particles. It stays in the air much longer than ordinary dust before it settles. Because of its small size it requires a more efficient filter to get it out of the air.
Until this year, I have used of variety of filters with mixed results. However, this year, I started using the 3M Advanced Allergen Filters, the ones in the blue wrapper. These have a 3M Microparticle Performance Rating of 1500, but do not have a MERV rating listed. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value and is a number from 1 to 12, produced from a test designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). A higher MERV rating indicates better filter performance. 3M uses particle data between 0.3 and 1.0 micron size to calculate a Microparticle Performance Rating or MPR. The higher the MPR, the better the filter. However, higher rated filters cost more.
Here are some of the Filtrete filters offered by 3M:
Dust & Pollen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 600,
MERV rating of 8
Micro Allergen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 1000,
MERV rating of 11
Ultra Allergen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 1250,
MERV rating of 11
Advanced Allegen Filter, Microparticle Performance Rating 1500,
MERV rating not available
The difference made by the Advanced filter was immediately obvious. My running nose stopped running. I assume that the new Advanced filters must be taking out more of the dust in the air including the cat dander. I have not noticed a change in the speed of the circulated air. The additional cost of the Advanced filter is worth it if you have allergies or pets. However, if you are happy with a lower-rated and lower-cost filter, then you can continue using that one. I suggest that you check Amazon and vendors on the web to get the best price.

WindChaser WC163 Outdoor Misting Fan Review

WindChaser WC163 Outdoor Misting Fan

Amazon experience - 5 Stars. Had an issue with the first unit sent out, but was able to quickly and easily return and receive a new one. Rarely do I have to return products bought on-line, so when it happens, it's something I dread. The feeling of having to repackage and ship the item back (especially one of this size) is daunting. Not with the enormously efficient process that Amazon has. Click on your transaction history, print the return label, stick it on and drop it off at the local post office. I'm sold on buying anything from Amazon due to this great process. Also, the new unit was shipped the minute I "registered" it as a return!
Windchase fan - The first fan didn't operate as intended, but must have just been a manufacturer defect. Given that... The fan took about 5 minutes to put together, and runs great! For anyone who has experienced one of these at a theme park or the like, you know how refreshing it feels on a hot summer day. Bought this one for my pregnant wife while she's out on the patio with our two year old, and it's a hit.
Positives - Runs very well, cools down a large area, and has a certain "cool" effect in that your friends and neighbors will be jealous :-) Also, as mentioned prior, Amazon.com service!
Negatives - The head unit is very difficult to move up and down without feeling like you are going to snap it off. Not sure if anyone would understand this, but try adjusting one of your normal oscillating fans at home and the head moves pretty easily up and down. Then try it on this unit and it doesn't appear to move nearly as easy. The weight of the fan portion is pretty heavy, so perhaps this is the reason. Or it could just be me. Just a design nitpick, nothing that I'd say to keep away from.

Honeywell RTH2310B 5-2 Day Programmable Thermostat Review

Honeywell RTH2310B 5-2 Day Programmable Thermostat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this thermostat because its sleek design, with all the controls that aren't needed daily hidden under the front cover. If you have a life that follows a very simple program, then this thermostat will work for you. But if you leave the house on an irregular basis and you don't want to keep the house heated while you are gone, it doesn't. The problem is that if you leave the home and manually turn down the temperature, it will revert back to the programmed temperature after two hours. This is neither on the box nor in the user's manual documented. But if you call their hotline, they will tell you. So the options are to turn off the program, every time you leave the home, but then you'll have to leave off the snap-on front cover, which makes this unit much more ugly than the cluttered competition (the program button is hidden). Or you turn off the program completely and use the thermostat manually, which kind of defies the purpose of this unit.

Haier 12,000 Portable Air Conditioner Review

Haier 12,000 Portable Air Conditioner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have two of the Haier 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioners, each with a heater and three speeds. Have been using them for three seasons and really like them. It takes less than 15 minutes to snap hoses on connectors, place in window, add foam strip to prevent air & bugs from coming in. No heavy lifting! I suggest putting some no odor silicone spray [food grade from Amazon or Grainger Industrial Supply] or Armor All which has some silicone in it, on the parts that snap together. It makes it easier next season to put on and remove the hoses too. Also, run a bead of silicone sealant around the tiny space between the hose connector that fits into window adapter. No air or bugs can get in that way. I'm writing almost everything that isn't in the owner's manual.
Fortunately there are two collapsible 5 ft (1.5 M) tubes/hoses--one for air intake and one for heat & humidity exhaust. Note: one tube portable ac units are much less efficient than this Haier and draw hot, outside air in thru cracks or openings somewhere in your home or apartment. They also take longer to cool than this two hose ac. Haier did it right with this product. One improvement needed is a 24 hour timer instead of the 12 hr one at present.
If it is very humid often (59% INside!) this Haier unit may occasionally require draining from a plug in the back near the bottom into a flat pan. I usually wheel the unit on its easily movable casters to the top of stairs; then, put a pan on the next step down; untwist the drain plug and let the water fill the pan. Otherwise, you need to use a flat, two inch high pan to collect the water. Although we have 88%+ humidity here in the Northeast, my draining of the water has been usually limited to at the end of the season. Some humidity does blow out the exhaust hose. One thing: the window adapter fits windows up to 36 inches. One of my windows is 38" which means I have to fill in the extra space with cardboard or foam. The D.I.Y.'er might get some longer plastic, heat-bend it and make it fit better. We have double-hung windows (lift up &/or pull top one down) with screens & storm windows (insulates somewhat in winter). I set the window adapter with snap-on/off hoses to blow through the screen. It adds some security as the storm window is locked in place above the screen opening. You should put a bolt locking device (see locksmith or hardware store) above or beside the opening to prevent a thief from opening your window from the outside. It should be instantly openable in case of fire and need to escape.
Don't expect a portable AC to do as well as an in the window or wall unit. 12,000 btu portable AC = about 8,000 btu in a window/wall Air Conditioner (by experience). And, it will not get as cold. Although I measured the temperature (digitally) coming out of the unit at 61 degrees F (16 degrees C) it will not make the air in the room as cold as a regular air conditioner. The heater setting for the cooler or cold winter isn't worth the money. Better is a $20.00 ceramic heater with fan from one of the stores or Amazon. I don't use the built-in heater as it doesn't produce much heat and is noisier than the ceramic one. The unit has a setting to use alone as a dehumidifier, However, a separate 40+ pint (19+ liter) a day dehumidifier is a better choice. I use one of those in our basement with a 15 foot garden hose attached to the drain plug. Without a dehumidifier things get mildew, smelly and moldy with 70% humidity. A word to the wise!
If you live in some dry areas of the country, a "Swamp Cooler" (love that name) is the item for you. It cools by evaporation of water and adds the humidity to the air. Others may prefer a central air conditioner with the addition of an in-room humidifier for those desert areas of the country. Remember that a humidifier in the winter (used October thru May, in Northeast USA) prevents dry & cracked skin, cracked wooden furniture, needless coughing. And, if you get a cold/flu or pneumonia, it makes it much easier on your lungs, pain, energy [coughing lowers energy], let alone skin. A humidifier even helps keep a piano in tune longer. Add a air purifier with fan & filter for best results. Those ozone units are bad for your health; but, that is another review to write! The Haier remote works fine, although its buttons aren't clearly labeled as to what each does. Save your owner's manual in a zip bag. At the end of the season remove the hoses and cover your Haier with a large plastic bag to keep the dust off/out. Hope that helps you.

This AC unit is amazing. Can cool a 20x25 room in about 30 minutes.
the dehimidifier setting is amazing, in the sense that it really does dry the air. it also has 3 fan speed settings, and digital temperature control.
definitely worth the $209 on google, or $330 (i paid) at WalMart. Use ship to store at Walmart so you don't have to pay for shipping like here on Amazon.com

Milwaukee 6523-21 Super Sawzall 13 Amp Reciprocating Saw with Rotating Handle Review

Milwaukee 6523-21 Super Sawzall 13 Amp Reciprocating Saw with Rotating Handle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just took delivery of the beauty pictured below. I'm not a professional, I'm just a tool-obsessed DIYer.
I have only used one other reciprocating saw -a Craftsman 2-speed unit. This Sawzall is, to say the least, a world apart from the Craftsman. First of all, some things I really like about it:
1. SMOOTH. The counterbalance on this thing is amazing. There is very little vibration when it's running free. In orbital mode you can feel a slight vibration owing to the fact that the vertical component of motion is not counterbalanced. Nevertheless, even in orbital mode this saw transmits less vibration into my hands than my truck does at 65 MPH on the highway.
2. The "Cord Lock" feature. I didn't really think this would be worth much, but it turns out its quite convenient. You insert and remove the cord by twisting it to lock/unlock it. Plus it comes with a 10' cord; much longer than most power tools.
3. 13 amps of destruction. That's a ton of power. Note that Makita makes a 15-amp model now, so it's only a matter of time before Milwaukee upgrades to 15 amp (probably about a month after I've had the one I just bought :rolleyes'.
4. Clutch protection for the drivetrain. If you suddenly lock up the blade the clutch protects the innards from grenading.
Things I don't like (so far):
1. The plastic shoe adjustment lock (noted in the second picture). This is very thin plastic. Fortunately it's also very flexible, so it's not brittle at all. But I feel this part would be better in aluminum. I've written Milwaukee to suggest this.
Things I'm neutral about:
1. Extensive use of plastic. This thing only weighs about 10 lb, which is great. Unfortunately this weight savings is achieved mostly using plastic. The entire rotating handle is plastic. Don't get me wrong, this tool is metal in the most important parts (motor and gear case), but I'd like to see a nice aluminum or magnesium handle. I don't fault Milwaukee for this, because everyone's making their tools this way now. I don't think there are any all-metal tools left on the market.
2. The 360 degree rotating handle. This thing has the potential to be really convenient, but I haven't used the saw enough yet to form a worthwhile opinion on whether this feature is worth the additional cost (about $10 extra).
I'd like to note that when I first took it out the orbital selector was very difficult to operate. So difficult, in fact, I thought it was defective. It wouldn't be so bad if there was more than just a tiny nub to grab onto. After using the saw for a bit, it did loosen up and it's much easier to slide now.
Also, the saw is built very "tight" from the factory, and the speed variation through the trigger was a little "clunky" for the first 25% of trigger pull. I'm happy to report after using it for a bit that it breaks in nicely and things operate smoother now. It makes sense that it needs to be broken in; I don't think they run them very long at the factory.
Nowhere on this tool is it indicated where it's made. I did finally locate, in small text at the bottom of the cardboard packaging, a line that read "Made in USA". I discovered that Milwaukee was recently (2005) bought by a Chinese company, TTI (Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd.) This brought on intense fear that my beloved Milwaukee might be [gulp] Made in China! I called Milwaukee and asked and they assured me the tool was made in Jackson, MI. It's amazing how rare it is for a power tool to be made in the US anymore.
Cutting performance is, as expected, stellar. Vibration level is very low. I tried the saw out by cutting up an old water heater. Sliced around the circumference with no effort. Then I cut vertically down the entire length of the heater in 2 places. "The Torch" blade that was included was dull 25% through the second vertical run, which really slowed progress. When those Milwaukee blades are sharp, though, look out!
I can't adequately describe how awesome it is to work with such a quality tool. I'm sure the offerings from Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, and Porter-Cable are also great saws, but there's a certain satisfaction in owning one made by the company that invented it.

Haier CPN12XC9 12K Portable Air Conditioner Review

Haier CPN12XC9 12K Portable Air Conditioner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this in June when I couldn't take the NYC heat anymore. My window unit broke at the end of last summer, and due the prohibitively expensive delivery/installation costs in NYC for a 4th floor walkup apartment with extra wide windows, I decided to get a portable standing A/C-- my first.
I'm sure a lot of the issues I'm pointing out here have to do with the fact that portable units are just not as efficient as window units, but this 12,000 BTU unit does not cool my apartment nearly as quickly as my mighty little 8,000 BTU window unit used to. The nice thing about the portable unit which is an advantage over my old window unit is that while I have it installed in my bedroom, I can blast just my bedroom only (8 ft x 14 ft) by shutting the door, or angle it to cool the living room only (20 ft x 22 ft), or to hit both rooms. The bedroom gets cool enough when I shut the door so that the unit is cooling my bedroom only (and the temperature reading on the unit can get down to 73 degrees); it is a challenge to completely cool the living room area on a really hot day, but that was an issue even when I had my window unit (also installed in my bedroom). When I do try to cool just the living room (essentially dragging the unit to the doorway of the bedroom and blasting it only into the living room), while the living room can sometimes cool down to a comfortable temperature, the bedroom then heats up because the PVC exhaust pipe leading from the unit to the bedroom window gets quite hot.
It is also very noisy. The first week, I could hardly fall asleep because of the noise. It is like sleeping near a generator. I guess I've gotten used to it by now, but I definitely think that it could have been designed better to be quieter. Also, even on low speed, it's just as loud as when it's on high speed.
Beware that all portable units will require some kind of exhaust pipe to be connected to the window so that the heat generated by the unit can escape. You only need a small window, however, much smaller than an A/C would need, so if you have a basement apartment with a small window, you'd probably still be able to accommodate this unit.
If you have a living situation that allows a window unit to be installed more easily and inexpensively, I would certainly recommend that. For those who cannot install window units for whatever reason, this portable unit is OK, but I wonder if there are more efficient, quieter units out there. Also, I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision to keep the unit because portable A/C's cost more than window units, and maybe I should have just sucked up the outrageous installation charges associated with a window unit which may have been a more efficient cooling system.

Yes it works ... sort of. Installation was easy using stainless braid flex lines and since it went under the kitchen sink where power was already available no wiring was needed, otherwise it would have been a major hassle. It seems well made and runs quietly.
The problem is that the hot water line under the house cools faster than the line under the sink where the pump & thermostat are located. The upshot is that instead of instant hot water, you get nearly instant warm water. It does help and the hot water warms faster than without it but if you're looking for fully hot water in a matter of seconds, you'll be dissapointed. It's an improvement but not the total solution I was hoping for.
Probably insulating the hot water line where possible in the crawl space would help. Guess I'll try that next.

PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER (YOUR PERSONAL COOLING SYSTEM) Review

PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER (YOUR PERSONAL COOLING SYSTEM)
Average Reviews:

Do not waste your money. Go to a dollar store and buy one of those small personal fans instead. The concept is good, especially the water bottle (no chemicals here) but the execution is horrible. The "fan" is too small to actually blow off cold air. I wasn't expecting it to cool down an entire room but I shouldn't be sitting in front of it and still be hot and sweating. If you're working in an area that is already using AC then this might work because it will probably pick up and circulate the cold air but it won't do anything if the air is warm.

Amazon showed that I would receive this item on the Feb. 15th-20th but it arrived on the 13th! Being without heat in my home, this made a large difference. The blower fit perfectly and came with all of the needed hardware and instructions. I had a toasty warm home in 30 minutes after receipt. The only thing I would like to see added is next day air shipments. All of the homes in my neighborhood are about the same age so as my neighbors begin to have problems, I will direct them to you!

EdgeStar 14,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner & Heater Review

EdgeStar 14,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner and Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a general overview of the Edgestar 14000 BTU dual hose air conditioner.
Buying experience: Average
Product was slow to be delivered, approximately two weeks from the time I placed the order until I actually received the item. Buyer's need to keep in mind that this product is not sold by Amazon. It is some external site that sells via amazon. Most buyers will not face any complications but it is important to know that dealing with some little dotcom is very different than dealing with Amazon in terms of service, quality of product, and returns.
Design: Below average
Product itself is extremely bulky in girth and tall in profile. The "portable" tag is rather misleading. Yes, anything is portable but due to the weight and size of this unit, it is not very portable at all. While it looks very slim in the pictures, it has a large rear section where the dual hose is located. The control panel on the unit is also not very touch sensitive and the power button became non-responsive after a few uses.
Product use: Poor to Unacceptable
It is also very unlikely that this product is a 14000 BTU air conditioner. It cannot, I repeat, cannot cool a space larger than 500 sq feet. It has been used in a wide range of temperatures (72-95F) and completely fails to lower the room temperature by more than 5F. I would estimate that it can cool a space that that is at most 200 square feet. Also note that the unit is very prone to condensation and leaks. Puddles form around the unit on high humidity days. Be careful when using on hardwood floors. It is a disaster waiting to happen. Window kit also had a nice big crack around the hose connection area.
Manufacturer/Tech support: Below Average
As mentioned previously, when dealing with an external seller, it can range from annoyance to frustration. First tried the seller for help and as expected was referred to the manufacturer as "this unit should be covered by the warranty". Manufacturer was must have all of one employee working for them. Impossible to get a live person and even then it was the standard read from a script response.
In summary, this is a dismal product with even worse support. It would be best to avoid this brand and seller. I would not recommend this air conditioner even on a sweltering summer afternoon.

Fluke Corporation 322 AC Clamp Meter Review

Fluke Corporation 322 AC Clamp Meter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Seldom does a company make 2 products that do almost the exact same thing, but Fluke's low end ampclamp (the 322) is almost a duplicate of the high-end digital amp-probe (T5) Fluke T5-1000USA,Electic Tester 1000V,Continuity,. Here are the big differences.
The 322 can handle BIG conductors and big currents (400A AC). The T5 maxes out somewhere around 3/0 copper wire and 100 A AC. The T5 has a bright red light to warn you when high voltages are present - the 322 warns you with an icon in the LCD display. The T5 comes in 600 and 1000 V versions, but the 322 is limited to 600 V.
The 322 works like the traditional amp-clamp. The T5 is best described as an "amp-FORK" because the opening is permanent and doesn't need to be closed to make an accurate measurement. The T5 "FORK" will accept a 1/2" diameter conductor but nothing bigger. You just poke it over the wire and the AC current is measured when the wire gets to the bottom of the fork. Neither model makes DC current mesurements. Consider the 337 if you need DC current. Also look at the 333 - it is similar to the 322
The T5 is smaller. about 1/2 the width. Both run for a long time on 2 AA batteries but the T5 runs twice as long. Using Lithium L91 AAs you can forget about batteries for a few years of everyday use.
The T5's probes are PERMANENTLY attached to the meter so they never get "borrowed". This may seem trivial but if you work around other people probes seem to be able to walk. They stow nicely in clips built into the T5 case or you wrap them around the 322. One T5 clip even doubles as an extended probe holder on the so you can use one hand to hold the meter and probe with the same hand, keeping you even further from the live circuit. At 1000 V that's a nice feature. The probes are removable from the end of the cables on the T5 so that you can put a clip on one line instead. The 322 accepts a full range of test accessories subject to it's 1.5 Megohm input impedance which can upset thermometers, or especially high voltage probes.
The T5 automatically switches AC or DC voltage depending on what it sees comming in and indicates it in the display as AC or DC. The 322 has a dial setting for AC or DC voltage and you must tell it which you want to measure. If you have a complex signal (AC+DC) ONLY the 322 can tell you about each part - the T5 will just pick one, usually the AC, unless the voltage is stable like from a battery or DC supply. Thus the T5 is somewhat ambiguous with combination DC/AC signals. These need a traditional DVM like the 179/279 series.
The T5-1000 can go to 1000 volts AC / DC, but the 322 stops at 600V. The T5 measures to 1000 Ohms, the 322 stops at 400 Ohms. Both have continuity beepers. The 322 goes to .01A resolution, the T5 is .1AThose are the hard facts, here are some Personal Thoughts from using both:
Neither the 322 or T5 are a replacement for the traditional bench DVM like the 179 or 279 but they can do ALOT of basic electrical measurements fast and easy. They are GREAT tools if you need to make current measurements quickly without disconnecting the conductor and also want to measure voltages and wire resistances. Input impedance of the meter is 1.5 Megohms instead of the typical 10 Megohms of a traditional DVM, so some accessories are not compatible with either of these. Both have a hold button - very helpful when you dig for a wire and once found you can't see the display - just press hold, get your meter back and read it later.
I like the "fork" on the T5 - it's fast and gets into smaller spaces than a bigger clamp. If I were working on MCM series cables, the 322 would be the only choice though. I also got spoiled by the automatic DC/AC switching on the T5. Most of the time voltage measurements are not complex AC+DC and if they are you need a different meter anyways.
I did alot of work on a high power 60Hz to 50Hz motor/generator set for testing foreign powered devices - I always used my T5-1000 when probing inside the motor/generator control panel live because I could clip one lead to ground and put the hot lead in the meter's extended holder then use it one handed to measure voltages with one hand behind my back. Since the generator had a DC field coil, the T5 would switch automatically when I measured the exciter DC voltage instead of the AC output which was one less switch to mess with. Setting up the generator was very simple using the T5.
Summary: These two products are so close you need to evaluate the voltages, currents, and wire size you work with to pick one over the other. Beyond 100A or 1/2" diameter conductors you are automatically going to need the 322. Above 600V, The T5-1000 wins. *IF* you can use either, the T5 is a bit more convenient and fits the hand nicely. They are 2 different meters and have different personalities, but are priced close and duplicate alot of specifications making it a personal decision. I hope this info helps you pick the right one for your job. Either one is a quality product that will have a long service life. Oh yea, the T5 is spec'ed by fluke to survive a 10 foot drop - it is ruggedly built without an opening clamp mechanism.

The Fluke 322 clamp meter is designed to verify the presence of load current, AC voltage and continuity of circuits, switches, fuses and contacts. This small and rugged meter is ideally suited for current measurements in tight cable compartments. The Fluke 322 also offers DC voltage measurements and has a higher resolution for loads below 40 Ah.
This mid-size model has a maximum jaw opening of one inch, and a maximum wire size of 500 MCM. It requires two AAA batteries, which will last for about 250 hours if they're alkaline. With the easy-to-read backlight and the inrush feature, plus a comfortable ergonomic shape, this meter is made to impress.

This is the top of the line pump for your furance or a/c unit. You just have to clean it out every year. To clean it,just unplug from receptacle, remove the plastic tubing and unloosen 2 screws that hold the unit in place. The "20" in the model number stands for the head pressure, meaning it will pump "UP" to 20 feet (head pressure) However our VCM-15ULS model is great also, does about the same job,and a little bit cheaper. This model will pump up "15" feet head pressure. So either one will work on your system. Just make sure of the proper voltage 120 or 240 volts. Average price range is $35-$65. Ebay has them real cheap. This pump will last for many many years, just clean it out once a year.

Don't buy.
I bought several of them. Used them in both the floating & sinking versions. They all shorted out the first season and are now in the garbage.
Need to mention that the "clips" for attaching the cords to the side of the tank are included. I bought extra clips and didn't need them.

The new Farm Essentials line from K&H Manufacturing has reinvented the wheel when it comes to keeping fresh water available in the winter. Every K&H de-icer is safe in all stock tanks, unlike nearly all of the other de-icers available in the market today. No expensive shrouds or cages need be purchased either. Every one of our de-icers can be used as a floating de-icer out of the box or in seconds converts to a submersible de-icer with the click of a button. In the past, all that was readily available were energy gulping 1000 watt to 1500 watt de-icers; Customers had no choice but to purchase these expensive to run de-icers, even when they didn-foott need it. We-footve solved this problem by creating a whole line of de-icers along with a convenient zone chart for consumers to choose the correct de-icer, every time. A free cord safety clip is also included with every de-icer. This ingenious clip secures the de-icer to the edge of the stock tank, bucket or container to help prevent chewing, cribbing or removal of the de-icer from the tank. When it comes to fresh water, K&H Farm Essentials is the choice that makes cents. The Farm Essentials Deluxe De-Icer has wider spaces in the included cage surrounding the heater than the Ultimate model.

100GAL BLK Stock Tank Review

100GAL BLK Stock Tank

I needed this tank to help rehab my Labrador Retriever, who has Diabetes and was unable to walk at the onset of the disease. The tank was the perfect size for the dog to swim in and rebuild leg muscles; however, the drain plug never set properly and it was necessary to constantly refill the tank. There were no instructions for the plug and it didn't come set up properly. This is dissappointing and a waste of water. Fortunately, the dog has regained her ability to support herself and walk and the tank was very useful. I wanted to turn it into a "hot-tub" but have to rethink the drain plug, first. I have friends who would order one if I can resolve the plug issue.
